Bio
Raised in Oakland, CA, Mitchell was drawn to the guitar at the young age of nine. During his adolescent years he learned just about every classic rock song from his guitar mentor, Dave Rude (Tesla). While studying Philosophy, Spanish, and English at the University of Arizona, however, Mitchell began going to shows in Tucson and discovered the contemporary indie scene. With a widely versed group of friends he was exposed to all genres of music and soon found himself busy playing in bands, scoring student films, and performing in ensembles.
Upon graduation in 2013 (and after a life altering summer working in an Alaskan fish cannery), Mitchell returned to the Bay Area and became artistically curious about his own songwriting. He formed folk-rock band, Case Hop Tally, with whom he has now released two EPs.
Mitchell moved to Los Angeles in 2016 to study guitar performance at Musician's Institute and music business at The Songwriting School of Los Angeles. He has since run his own concerts, begun teaching professionally, remained active performing and recording. From 2017 -2020 he was a founding member and lead guitarist in the LA electric-soul band, Gold Shimmer.
Currently, Mitchell is busy teaching private guitar lessons and continuing to study, practice, and compose music daily. He resides between LA and the Bay Area (and everywhere else in the world via Zoom)
